Testing process
In today’s ever-changing network infrastructures and architectures, the necessity for an OEM compatible transceiver manufacturer to application test and troubleshoot has become more important than ever. AMC Optic’s state-of-the-art lab gives us the ability to guarantee that our optics, direct attach cables, and active optical cables are 100% compliant with every OEM. Our optics and cables are tested at every key point in the production cycle as well as our unique 4-point final product testing process. This proprietary 4-point testing process has helped AMC Optics achieve the lowest defective rate in the industry. Below is a brief description of our 4-point testing process:
Production Testing
During production, AMC Optics transceivers, direct attach cables, and active optical cables are component tested prior to assembly. Each component manufacturer is required to submit full production load testing for each component. This ensures that we are using the highest level, tier one tested components prior to any assembly. Once assembly is completed, each raw assembled transceiver and cable is ping tested to ensure the assembly process kept the full integrity of the product.

Final Product Testing
Once assembly and assembly testing has been completed, the product is shipped from our manufacturing facility to our US laboratories for programming. AMC Optics has designed a proprietary programming system used in-house, CodeRite Programming and Layer Coding System. This system is designed not only to code and program each transceiver with a full multi-layer program and algorithm, but also perform a ping test to essentially eliminate the chances of a defective product making through programming and on to application testing.
Performance Testing
The performance of an optical transceiver falls under 4 categories, and is necessary to ensure that the transceiver performs at or better than the OEM specifications:
- Compliance Verification for Distance (100M, 500M, 2KM, 10KM, 40KM, 80KM, 120KM)
- Wavelength (850nm, 1310nm, 1550nm, CWDM fixed, DWDM fixed, Tunable)
- Traffic Density (Individual Port traffic assignment testing)
- RX/TX Light Level and Power (eye map, MSA guidelines and requirements.
Application Testing
AMC Optics’ transceivers are designed and programmed to equal or better form and function of the OEM original transceivers. Each module from AMC undergoes full application testing in the intended OEM system. Our extensive lab test bed supports a wide variety of OEM switches, routers, hubs, servers, and NICs. AMC Optics also has direct relationships with three Data Center clients local to our lab test bed, that we can leverage an even more extensive list of equipment to be able to test and troubleshoot.
